The Directorate of Forensic Sciences (DFS), Government of Goa is the State's premier scientific institution dedicated to supporting the criminal justice system through the application of modern forensic science and technology. The Directorate provides objective, impartial, and scientifically validated examination of evidence in civil and criminal cases, assisting investigating agencies, courts, and other authorities in the pursuit of justice.
Forensic science serves as a vital link between science and law. By examining physical, biological, chemical, digital, and documentary evidence, forensic experts help establish facts with scientific accuracy.

NOTIFICATIONS
- Vide Notification dated 25/09/2025, the Directorate of Forensic Sciences now operates as an independent department under the Home Department, Government of Goa.
- Vide Notification dated 27/05/2025, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), New Delhi has notified the Computer Forensic Division of DFS, Verna as Examiner of Electronic Evidence within India, u/s 79A of IT Act 2000 with the following scope namely: (i) Computer (Media) Forensics excluding Floppy Disk Drive & (ii) Mobile Devices Forensics.
